The Year of the Dramatic Powder Bath

There are multiple times a year where I just want grab some dramatic paint and decor make take all of my over the top design gorgeousness thought-bubbles and lean in. Now, sometimes this sounds scary to me and I know it often sounds scary to those who I talk to.

…BUT, it’s 2025 and we’re no longer afraid.

So, we’re going to baby step it! Hence the: Powder Bath.

The Powder Bath is the perfect space to try out your need to maximize your palette. I’m sure you’re thinking that a smaller space, covered in deep paint will make it seem smaller - let’s be clear: that is old adage that is being sidelined by the ability to do it right. Also, it’s a great space to start, because due to the size, it won’t be such a budget killer.

Today, we’re giving ideas for the walls and more aesthetic upgrades. Can I hit you with the: le duh!

Let’s get to our list:

paint

We love how paint can manage to change everything, even if just using the same color. Crisp, fresh paint is my kink - always. We’re sharing some of our favorite options using Farrow and Ball paint. I get it, it’s not the least expensive option, but it is a great one to take to a paint store to have them match it.

We dare you to try something bold here - worst case scenario, you paint over it. Right?!

No. 267

Dove Tale

I love the warm gray with a lilac undertone. It gives it a high end, but soothing feel.

No. 292

Treron

This dark green makes me want to have large bunches of olive stems or eucalyptus draped through the space. It feels so natural in it’s own way.

No. 244

London Clay

The rich pigment of the brown hue reminds me of natural stone elements. Pulled together in a powder bath would feel a modern European hint.

No. 26

Down Pipe

I’m always for a dark paint with a blue undertone, because it always invites this ethereal vibe and mellows me out.

wallpaper

Wallpaper is another one of those projects that are filled with big feelings. It can be difficult to put on, it can be difficult to take off and everything in between. The reason we think it makes sense to add this level of work to a space like your powder room is likely for the very reason you think it isn’t worth it: it’s such a small space.

For us, that reads that it will make a huge impact and remove the stress time, tbh. Whether you do the whole room, half, peel and stick, old school or anything in-between you’ll be given the most reward for your work.

We’re selecting all of our options today from Spoonflower.

trim + moulding

A way to offer additional charm to the petite space is to provide moulding to the walls. Wainscot or paneling, fun trim and added detail creates a depth that really sets this room apart with it’s charm.

The great thing that there are some pieces you can get pre-fab or starter pieces to get the look without all of the work.
